West Sea Therapy

Effective Date: November 1, 2025

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the West Sea Therapy website (the “Site”). By using this Site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Who We Are; What This Site Offers

This Site is owned and operated by West Sea Therapy, the private practice of Jim Murray, M.A., LMFT—licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington (License # LF 60577511) and California (License # MFT 43075). The Site provides general information about psychotherapy services, including individual therapy, couples counseling, and intensive sessions, along with educational content and a means to contact the practice. It does not host user accounts or process payments. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use immediately.

2. No Accounts or Online Payments

  • The Site does not include a member portal, login, or subscription service.

  • The Site does not accept or process payments. All payments occur directly between client and clinician using methods described in your signed consent paperwork.

3. Relationship to Consent Forms

Your clinical services—including fees, scheduling, cancellation policy, confidentiality, insurance, and telehealth—are governed by your signed consent and informed-consent forms (“Consent Forms”). If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and the Consent Forms, the Consent Forms control.

4. Informational Use Only

Content on this Site is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical or mental-health advice and should not be used to diagnose or treat any condition. Using this Site or contacting us through it does not create a therapist–client relationship. Such a relationship forms only after mutual agreement, completion of intake paperwork, and clinician acceptance.

In crisis? Call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), 911, or go to your nearest emergency department. This Site is not monitored for emergencies.

5. Licensing, Jurisdiction & Telehealth

Jim Murray provides psychotherapy only in states where he is licensed: Washington and California.
Telehealth sessions are conducted only when both client and clinician are physically located in those states, as required by licensing boards. Clients are responsible for ensuring compliance with location requirements.

6. Risks & Benefits of Therapy

Psychotherapy is a process that may involve exploring difficult emotions and experiences. It can lead to significant personal growth but may also feel challenging at times. This summary aligns with, and is subordinate to, the detailed language in your Consent Forms.

7. Confidentiality

Information shared in therapy is confidential and protected by law, with exceptions required or permitted by law, including:

  • Suspected child, elder, or dependent-adult abuse

  • Threats of serious harm to self or others

  • Court orders or other legal obligations

Do not submit sensitive or protected health information (PHI) through general contact forms or unencrypted email/text. Secure communication methods will be provided when appropriate. Full confidentiality provisions are detailed in your Consent Forms.

8. Fees, Insurance & Cancellations

  • Fees: Session rates and sliding-scale arrangements are discussed prior to treatment and detailed in your Consent Forms.

  • Insurance: Clients are generally responsible for submitting their own reimbursement claims. West Sea Therapy does not bill or receive payments directly from insurance providers.

  • Cancellations: At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule appointments, as detailed in your Consent Forms.

  • Extended Sessions & Reports: Sessions exceeding standard length, telephone consultations beyond five minutes, or written reports/letters may incur prorated fees, consistent with the Consent Forms.

9. Communication & Availability

Office hours are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (PT) and are by appointment only.

Non-urgent calls or messages are generally returned within one business day (Monday–Friday). Messages received after hours or on weekends will be addressed the next business day. If you are experiencing a mental-health emergency, do not leave a voicemail or send an email. Instead, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), dial 911, or go to your nearest emergency department.

10. Intellectual Property

All materials on this Site—including text, graphics, logos, and images—are the property of West Sea Therapy or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law.
